There is little comparison when you add up the advantages of a TigerTurf compared to any other playing surface. If you look at the economics of a TigerTurf surface plus base work compared to any other tennis surface with base work – you have a winner when it comes to TigerTurf for it outplays, outlasts both in terms of number of hours of play and, for that matter, price!

View AllThere are a variety of surfaces for tennis, namely, hard courts (US Open, AUS Open), clay courts (French Open), natural grass courts (Wimbledon) and artificial turf courts (with TigerTurf having a product range matching the speed and style of all types of surfaces).
The advantages of a tennis court that is made of artificial turf are immense and long term. Some of these major advantages with TigerTurf tennis courts are:
Low maintenance: Minimal time on maintenance, no mowing or watering needed.
All-weather playability: Drains quickly, immediately usable after rain; play is possible even when the surface is wet.
Durability: Resistant to wear and tear, extremely long-lasting with countless hours of play.
Consistent playing surface: Even ball bounce and speed.
Year-round Use: Playable in all climates and seasons.
Player comfort and safety: Better shock absorption, reduces injuries and owing to all-weather play, is non-slippery with great underfoot traction.
Eco-friendly: Saves water, no pesticides needed, UV stabilized (environmentally certified when using TenCate yarn).
Aesthetic appeal: Always looks lush and new.
Cost-effective: Long-term savings on maintenance and even more so when you count the number of hours of consistent play without any downtime.
Versatility: Suitable for recreational and competitive play, ideal for both training and matches.
In India, resurfacing a hard court typically costs between ₹3-7 lakh depending on the quality of material, extent of damage, if any, number of layers used in resurfacing. Altius Sports’ uses hard courts that are made by the official suppliers to the US Open.
While the time to install the top surface can be between 4 to 7 days, depending upon the surface type and assuming that the weather is clear, base construction does take time. The quickest and most pocket friendly type of base is crushed rock, applicable to a few TigerTurf products only. However, if your product calls for an asphalt base, and, at times a concrete surface, these could take a longer time to build as typically the curing time alone for bases as these could be up to 3 weeks.
The life span is a function of multiple factors, including the location of the tennis court. Typical life spans of various types of courts are:
Hard courts: 2 to 3 years with high dependency on regular maintenance; if these are on an asphalt base, then they will typically last longer with only the need to do the top colour coat and maybe the line markings.
Clay courts: 5 to 7 years with a high dependency on regular maintenance.
Grass courts: 3 to 5 years with a high dependency on regular maintenance.
Artificial turf: 7 to 10 years with minimal downtime for maintenance.
